Let’s Get Started!

Don’t you love it when Thanksgiving Day comes to an end and you get to decorate for Christmas for the entire weekend afterwards?  Of course Christmastime is most important because it is when we celebrate the birth of our Savior, but it is also a time when we prioritize beauty in the home.  Unlike any other time of year, everyone stops what they are doing and actively participates in making things beautiful around the house.  We put up pretty wreaths outside.  We even put up lights to make the outside of our home pretty at night.  We all go shopping for the one tree that is the epitome of beauty to bring into our home.  We decorate that perfect tree with things we have found beautiful over the past decade(s).  Not only do we put out beautiful things, but we listen to beautiful music; we make “beautiful” foods like fudge, gingerbread cookies and gingerbread houses, drink wonderful hot chocolate; we decorate beautiful packages to place under the tree. We put so much effort into creating beauty at this time of year, how can we NOT enjoy the Christmas season every year?

What would happen? What COULD happen if we chose to create beauty in our homes and our relationships throughout the whole year, not just at Christmas?

I know, for me, I would rather do ANYTHING than to clean up messes that my family has made.  It really just sucks the life out of … well…, life, to constantly have to pick up dirty socks, clean off counters, do dishes twice daily, and laundry 7547264 times a day.

What if I change the verb?  Change the perspective a bit?

I don’t like to clean, but I do love to create. I love sewing, drawing, playing piano, playing flute, singing, crafting, all kinds of creating, but as a mom of 4, there just isn’t a lot of time for creating.

If I can create beauty in November and December, why can’t I create it in February, or June, or August?

Instead of focusing on cleaning, I pledge that in the year 2021, I will focus on creating beauty IN my home and FOR my home.

It just means I will focus on how beautiful I can create something, whether it is beautiful for my eyes, ears, nose, or mouth and everything in between.

In this blog, I will write about all kinds of ways to CREATE 6eauty.  I am so looking forward to starting this journey with you!

Now, let’s go…….

CREATE 6eauty!!
